Mental Health First Aid One Day Course

Become a Mental Health Champion in One-Day

"The course helped me to understand what I have done well in the past (when my work colleague experienced mental ill health) but also gave me ideas for how I can improve the way I support people in future"

In becoming a MHFA Champion, you will achieve:

  • An understanding of common mental health issues
  • Knowledge and confidence to advocate for mental health awareness
  • Ability to spot signs of mental ill health
  • Skills to support positive wellbeing

Split into two sessions, during this MHFA One Day course, you'll come to understand the early warning signs of mental ill health, about depression, anxiety disorders, and other mental health issues (eating disorders, self-harm, psychosis).  Stigma and discrimination are hot topics, and you'll learn how to approach the person, assess and assist with a crisis. Listening and communicating non-judgmentally are important aspects of this course, which also show you how to encourage the person to get appropriate professional help - and about recovery - all to help build a mentally health workplace.

The One Day Champion course includes a mix of presentations, group discussions and workshop activities.  At the end, you'll get a MHFA manual to keep, so you can refer to it whenever you need it.

Cost

MHFA value this One Day course at £200 per person, but MYB are able to offer places for £180 per person (minimum 8 people/max 16).  All participants who complete the full day course will receive a certificate to say that they are a MHFA Champion.
